Microsoft announces Game Stack and brings Xbox Live to iOS and Android

Microsoft has announced a new project called Game Stack which brings together all their development tools into one package to aid developers. Tools such as Azure, PlayFab, DirectX, Visual Studio, Xbox Live, App Center, and Havok—will be in a robust ecosystem that any game developer can use. The goal of Game Stack is to help developers easily discover the tools and services they need to create and operate their game.

The main advantage of this for us gamers is that Xbox Live will now be an essential part of Game Stack and Xbox Live will expand its cross-platform capabilities, as Microsoft will introduce a new SDK that brings this community to iOS and Android devices. Achievements on your mobile phone anyone?!

The full press release can be found here. It is quite “techy” but fully iterates Microsoft’s plan to bring it’s ecosystem to all devices.

However, there was no news on the Nintendo Switch
