The new bunch of free games for Xbox Live members have been announced, with the highest profile of these being 2017’s Battlefield 1, which is included in the same month that Battlefield V is being released. Also added are Race the Sun (from November 16th), Assassins Creed (November 1st) and Dantes Inferno (November 16th). The two Xbox 360 games are, as usual, available to play on the Xbox One via the technological trickery of Backwards Compatibility. Race the Sun is previously unheard of to me, even though it was released in 2017, but it looks like an interesting take on an endless runner.
Battlefield 1 – Fight your way through epic battles ranging from tight urban combat in a besieged French city to the heavily defended mountain forts in the Italian Alps or frantic combats in the deserts of Arabia. Discover a world at war through an adventure-filled campaign, or join in epic multiplayer battles with up to 64 players, and adapt your tactics to the earth-shattering destruction and dynamic weather. Fight as infantry, lead horse charges or take control of amazing vehicles on land, air and sea, from tanks and biplanes to the gigantic Behemoths – some of the largest vehicles in Battlefield history.
Race The Sun – You are a solar-powered craft. The sun is your death timer. Hurtle towards the sunset at breakneck speed in a futile race against time. Delay the inevitable by catching speed boosts which reverse the setting sun – if only for a moment. Race The Sun is inspired by arcade games of the past with a focus on high scores, short game sessions, and pure fun mingled with nerve-wracking tension. The rules are simple: don’t crash, stay in the light, and don’t slow down!
Assassins Creed – 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You are Altair, a Master Assassin sent to kill corrupted leaders profiting from the war. As you carry out your missions, you find yourself tangled up in a conflict that threatens not only the Holy Land, but the entire world. Master the skills, tactics, and weapons of history’s deadliest and most secretive clan of warriors. Plan your attacks, strike without mercy, and fight your way to escape.
Dantes Inferno – An abducted soul. A lifetime of sins. A journey to the depths of despair. Based on the immensely influential classic poem, Dante’s Inferno takes you on an epic quest of vengeance and redemption through the Nine Circles of Hell. You are Dante, a veteran of the Crusades who must chase his beloved Beatrice and try to free her soul from Lucifer’s grasp. As your pursuit takes you deeper into the pits of Hell, you must battle ever more fierce and hideous monsters—while also facing your own sins, a dark family past, and your unforgivable war crimes. Go to Hell.
