Who were the Winners at the Golden Joystick Awards?

The Golden Joystick Awards are a UK based video game awards, that has previously gone by the name of the Peoples Gaming Awards. It used to be voted on by the British public but is now open to vote for by anyone in the world with an internet connection. The ceremony took place in London today, 16th November 2018, and of course there were a number of awards and winners.

God Of War was the standout winner, winning Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Audio and Best PlayStation Game. Sony Interactive Santa Monica also took home the award for Best Studio, meaning Five awards were given out for Sony’s behemoth game of 2018. You can of course read my review of God Of War, where I pretty much agreed with all the above awards!

Fortnite was another big winner, receiving Ultimate Game of the Year and Best Competitive Game. Dead Cells took home Indie Game of the Year, whilst the stunning Forza Horizon 4 was Xbox Game of the Year. All the awards are listed below.

  • Studio of the Year – SIE Santa Monica Studio
  • Best New Streamer / Broadcaster – Bryan Dechart and Amelia Rose Blaire
  • Mobile Game of the Year – PUBG Mobile
  • PC Game of the Year – Subnautica
  • PlayStation Game of the Year – God of War
  • Xbox Game of the Year – Forza Horizon 4
  • Nintendo Game of the Year – Octopath Traveller
  • Breakthrough Award – Unknown Worlds (Subnautica)
  • Most Wanted Game – Cyberpunk 2077
  • Critics Choice Award – Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Lifetime Achievement – Hidetaka Miyazaki (FromSoftware)
  • Outstanding Contribution – Xbox Adaptive Controller
  • Ultimate Game of the Year – Fortnite Battle Royale
